Out of Bounds Newsletter - December 2008

Hello everyone

2008 is almost over, but we still have a good few weeks to enjoy our magnificent golf course and each other’s company. It’s been a full year and so much has happened. I’d like to fill you in on the current happenings and what we can look forward to in 2009.

Good place to start! Join us for a real MEMBERS New Year's Eve Party. We have negotiated a great deal with the hotel - a fantastic buffet and fireworks for just R125 a head and I am throwing in my services as DJ for the evening free until the early hours. This will also be at the club and Inyama will be closed for the evening. In addition, you can book for all your family and friends too, at the same rate. Where else in the Vaal are you going to go on New Year's Eve with all your family and friends, have a great meal and a fantastic party including the best music and fireworks, for R125 a head?! Book now with Ina and please note that you need to pay to confirm your booking. This is simply to avoid any no-shows. Contact Ina on (016) 420 1300.

As you've seen, we have been busy on many fronts. The tree removal carries on apace and we have started planting new trees in strategic spots identified by our course designer, Robert Richardson. He has completed the plotting of the course and we now have a plan of the entire golf course, accurate to within a few millimeters. His next task is to come up with some ideas about how to improve certain holes and make the course more 'modern' while retaining all its charm. This is initially centred around the 14th and 2nd. The 14th is our signature hole and the green needs attention, as does the bunker in front of the green. He will provide us with a number of ideas to improve matters. The 2nd is our problem hole in that it could be spectacular, but due to the waste that gets washed down the spruit, it is often a problem area. Fixing the water feature would also enable us to finally do away with all the 'roads' across it and make it the beautiful hole it should be.

We have purchased 5 new golf cars and need a little more space. While doing this extension, we are also building 10 individual golf car 'garages' with lockable gates. Most are already sold, but if you would like one, please contact me at your earliest convenience.

There are still 153 members who, according to our records, have made no attempt to pay subs since July. We will be contacting them individually to find out how we can make arrangements and in some cases where members may well have paid, to update our records. Please note that if you claim to have paid and we have no record of this, the onus is on you to provide proof of payment. Please pay your subs if you have not done so already.

May I take this opportunity to wish you and your loved ones a safe, peaceful and happy Christmas and New Year and if you are travelling, a safe return home and a prosperous 2009.

Best Wishes

David and the team
